Planning applications submitted to Gateshead Council cover a range of developments, from new housing to an outdoor performance space and a temporary upside-down house attraction.
New homes and care facility
Among the proposals is the construction of five new three-storey houses on land between Hoyson Villas and Reay Street in Felling. The scheme comprises two pairs of semi-detached houses and one central detached house.
A separate application seeks permission for a four-storey building at 97 Bewick Road, Gateshead, with retail storage in the basement, retail on the ground floor, and a study hall or Kollel on the first and second floors.
Entertainment and public space
Another proposal involves the erection of an upside-down house entertainment facility and ticket office at the Metrocentre Yellow Car Park in Whickham. The temporary use would run for 24 months from 7th September 2026.
Plans also include the creation of a new public realm and outside performance square with landscaping, infrastructure works and associated engineering operations on a site bounded by Mill Road, Hawks Road and South Shore Road in Gateshead.
Other applications
Further applications include the demolition of a defunct chimney at International Paint Ltd on Stoneygate Lane in Felling, and the use of a dwellinghouse at 4 Peterborough Close, Gateshead, as a care home for a maximum of one child, with two carers working on a rota basis and visits by the registered care manager.
