Freddie Flintoff Lists Cheshire Mansion for £6.8m

England cricketing legend and former Top Gear presenter Freddie Flintoff has listed his Cheshire mansion for sale. The property, which previously belonged to ex-Manchester United defender Phil Neville prior to his decision to manage Inter Miami, was purchased by Flintoff in 2021. However, he has now put it on the market with estate agents Gascoigne Halman for just shy of £6.8 million.

10,000 sq ft estate with six bedrooms

The stunning estate covers 10,000 square feet, boasting six bedrooms and just as many bathrooms. The four-floor mansion is said to contain all the latest technology, as well as a pool, gym and sauna.

There's also a giant games room, featuring ping pong, pool and air hockey tables. As well as comfy seating, there's also sports memorabilia and a large flat-screen TV. Flintoff's mansion also contains a home theatre, kitted out with a huge screen and plush chairs.

Lavish interiors and amenities

The kitchen features sleek marble-style worktops and hard-tiled floors. There's an automatic lift to get between the four floors. Outside is just as lavish, with a private gate and an underground parking facility.

Flintoff's reasoning is not yet known for selling the property. However, he has recently taken up the position of head coach at Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League, having stepped away from his role with England Lions.

Coaching move and career transition

Flintoff had been working in a coaching capacity with England Lions since 2024 when he made the decision to step down to chase glory in Australia. He said at the time: "Unfortunately I’ve made the decision to step away from my role with the Lions. Not only have I enjoyed my time having the opportunity to work with the best young cricketers in the country, but have taken great pride in seeing them develop.

"I’d like to thank the coaches and staff for all their passion, tireless work and support they give everyday. In particular Ed Barney who I’ve loved working with and was so lucky to have as a performance director, and obviously Rob for trusting me with one of the most Important roles in English cricket.

"I can’t wait to get started with the Thunder later in the year and see where coaching takes me. Good luck to whoever takes over you have some big pants to fill."

Top Gear accident and aftermath

Following his cricketing career, Flintoff did move into TV work - eventually landing a presenting job on BBC's flagship programme Top Gear. However, a near-fatal car crash in 2022 while filming an episode left him with serious facial injuries and broken ribs.

After multiple surgeries and being isolated at home for months, a £9m payout was agreed in October 2023. A formal public apology was also issued to Flintoff by the BBC. Top Gear was placed on an indefinite hiatus as a result of the accident. However, the BBC have recently announced the show will return.
