Farmer Wants A Wife Couple Lists Historic Home for Queensland Move

Reality TV Couple Embarks on Queensland Adventure After Selling South Australian Home

Jo and Rob Hodges, the beloved couple who found love on season two of the dating series Farmer Wants A Wife in 2008, are officially turning the page on their South Australian roots. They have listed their historic Mount Gambier residence for sale, paving the way for a permanent life in sunny Queensland. The Hodges, who tied the knot in 2010, originally purchased the five-bedroom, two-bathroom heritage home in 2020 for $825,000.

A Glimpse into the Historic Property

Nestled in Mount Gambier, approximately 435 kilometres from Adelaide, this 1890s-era property boasts a prime location just minutes from the iconic Blue Lake tourist destination. The home masterfully blends original heritage features with contemporary luxury, creating a unique living space. While no specific asking price has been disclosed, expressions of interest are set to close next month, inviting potential buyers to appreciate its storied past and modern comforts.

The exterior showcases a beautiful original stone dolomite façade and a classic wraparound verandah, complete with the original front door. Inside, residents are greeted by a grand entrance, bay windows in the living areas, soaring ceilings, and an elegant marble fireplace. The layout includes a formal private dining room, a versatile study that can double as a bedroom, a dedicated wine cellar, and efficient gas floor heating throughout.

The sprawling modern kitchen is a highlight, featuring a large breakfast bench ideal for family gatherings. Old World charm is prominently displayed in the main bathroom, which is adorned with tessellated floor tiles and a classic claw-foot tub. Interestingly, the property has a colourful history, having served as a private hospital and later a maternity ward in previous decades.

Family Relocation and Business Transition

The decision to sell marks the final step in the family's relocation to Noosa, which they completed in 2024. Jo Hodges, 47, had been a frequent visitor back to Mount Gambier to manage her wellness centre, The Nourish Nook, following the move. However, she confirmed this week that she is now ready to fully cut ties with her old hometown after closing the business in late 2025.

Jo first announced the family's exciting move to Queensland on Instagram back in 2023. 'After holidaying there for years, getting engaged on Little Cove beach, baby moons and buying a beautiful place up there, our family is moving to live in Noosa in 2024,' she wrote. The relocation was primarily driven by a fantastic opportunity for their daughter, Darcy, who was accepted into an elite swimming squad in the region.

'This is a fantastic opportunity for Darcy and one that will help her reach her goals in swimming. How could we not take this opportunity?' Jo explained. At the time, she expressed a deep affection for Mount Gambier, stating she planned to return every five weeks to remotely manage her business. 'My passion and my commitment to return every five weeks is an easy choice as I could never stay away from her too long! Our new chapter awaits us in 2024!'

A Love Story Fifteen Years in the Making

Jo and Rob Hodges first captured hearts as fan favourites on Farmer Wants A Wife fifteen years ago. Their enduring romance has blossomed into a family of five, including daughters Darcy and Maggie, and a son, Roy. The sale of their Mount Gambier home symbolises the closing of one significant chapter and the enthusiastic beginning of another in their life together, fully embracing the coastal lifestyle of Noosa.
