Family raffles Welsh coastal home for £10 a ticket

A family from south Wales is raffling their home after conventional selling methods proved too slow. Lillie Wilson, 23, hopes the raffle of her family home in Pembroke Dock will help another young family get onto the property ladder.

Lillie and her husband Jack, 25, decided after their wedding in June this year that they wanted to sell their house and go travelling with their two children, Maddison, two, and Reuben, one. They moved into the three-bed semi-detached house in Pembrokeshire three years ago and renovated it top to bottom, installing a new kitchen, loft space, solid wood flooring, and a new garden.

Why a raffle?

Lillie said: "The house was on the market for a while and we found a house we loved, but everything fell through, and we gave up after that. I just thought, right, if we raffle it then we can make our money back that we spent on the house, and it gives people an opportunity to get on the property ladder, which is so difficult for people these days."

"It is £10 per ticket and is all being organised through an official website, through all of the proper channels. My mum had the idea to raffle it actually, because she has seen all the big companies like Omaze do it, but no one we know has done anything like it before around here so why not?"

Unconventional but appealing

"We know it is unconventional but we think it's a great idea. It's a beautiful place to live, by the coast and only nine miles away from Tenby. We love it here but are ready for a change, for something different," she added.

The raffle listing describes the property as "a stunningly presented three-bedroom semi-detached townhouse arranged over multiple floors and a converted attic room ideal for a dressing room or home office." It includes a "beautiful high-specification kitchen with a central island and integrated appliances," a stylish family bathroom, an additional shower room, a separate WC, and a low-maintenance enclosed rear garden. The home is in a convenient town-centre location within walking distance of shops, schools, amenities, and transport links.

The winner will be decided after all 30,000 available tickets have sold.
