Dunelm 1L dehumidifier cut to £20 as UK heavy rain hits

As heavy rain is forecast across parts of the UK, households without a tumble dryer may find themselves drying washing indoors. The Dunelm 1L Dehumidifier is now available for £20, reduced from £25.

Dehumidifier designed for indoor drying

The Met Office has warned of heavy rain affecting parts of the country, according to the latest forecast. Wet weather can make drying clothes outdoors difficult, leaving many people relying on indoor drying racks.

The Dunelm dehumidifier is designed to remove excess moisture from the air and create a cleaner, drier-feeling space. It is suitable for rooms measuring up to 20 square metres, making it an option for bedrooms, utility rooms or other areas where laundry is regularly dried.

Features and alternatives

As the name suggests, it has a one-litre capacity, allowing it to collect moisture from the air as it runs. It also has removable filters, making maintenance easier. The compact digital dehumidifier could be particularly useful during spells of wet weather when opening windows isn't always practical and clothes take longer to dry.

Another option is the Bush Mini 0.7L Dehumidifier for £35, down from £50, at Argos. This one is said to extract around 0.2 litres of moisture per day, depending on the settings, and it has auto shut-off features to prevent any spills or messes.

At Currys, there is a smaller version similar to Dunelm's offering. The Russell Hobbs Portable Dehumidifier in grey is up for grabs at £47.99, down from £54.99, and is said to help prevent condensation and damp issues.

Shopper reviews

The Dunelm 1L Dehumidifier has received a high 4.5 out of five-star rating online. One person said: “Now the rainy weather is coming, I have to dry my washing indoors. I couldn’t believe the amount of water the dehumidifier collected in one day/evening. I didn’t leave it on overnight (due to safety reasons) as I wasn’t sure I should. I am really pleased with my purchase.”

Another wrote: “For a small dehumidifier, it still removes some humidity from my small room. It also doesn't 'eat up' the electricity, which is good.” A third shopper added: “This is a great little lightweight machine. It works very efficiently at getting the moisture out of my wardrobe. Good value.”

One person disagreed and said: “The light can be a bit annoying and I can’t turn it off. It’s a big standard dehumidifier that does the job.” Another added: “Good for both the price and portability, does a good job considering what I paid for it and it is easily moved to different rooms due to the size. Less powerful than expected, but still a decent purchase.”

The Dunelm 1L Dehumidifier is available from Dunelm.
