County Durham's August planning applications include a new cocktail bar in Durham City, a care home for young people in Stanley, and 93 new dwellings in Great Lumley.
New hospitality and education proposals
Silver Street in Durham could see two new hospitality venues. One application seeks to change the use of the ground floor premises to a small-scale cocktail lounge/bar, while another proposes changing an existing retail unit to a drinking establishment.
Education proposals include changing the use of the ground floor cafe and upper floor offices at Station Road, Consett, to provide education. A separate application at Arden House, Prospect View, West Rainton, would change the building's use to a community hub and for alternative education provision.
Housing and care home plans
Several HMO conversions are proposed across the county. Applications cover dwellings at Fir Avenue, Sherburn Road Estate, Durham; St Nicholas Drive, Durham; and Lund Avenue, Framwellgate Moor, Durham.
A care home for up to four young people aged between six and 17 years is proposed at The Manse, Shieldrow Lane, Annfield Plain, Stanley. The plans include a dormer window, rooflights, and demolition of the conservatory to the rear.
Residential developments and community facilities
Larger housing schemes include 93 dwellings with associated access, infrastructure and landscaping at land north of George Pit Lane, Great Lumley, and four dwellings with access and parking opposite Woodside, Witton Park.
Other applications include a three-bed dwelling at Field House, Station Road, Stanley, and the conversion of a small community hall and adjoining bungalow into a three-bedroom fully adapted bungalow at Edge Court, Sherburn Road Estate, Durham.
Community and sports facilities feature in the list. North Durham Academy, High Street, Stanley, plans refurbishment of its artificial grass pitch, including replacement pitch surface, perimeter fencing, floodlights, and new hardstanding areas. Greenland Community Primary, South Moor Road, South Moor, Stanley, proposes changing the use and extending the existing sports changing facility to provide a nursery.
A defibrillator and bleed kit cabinet would be installed on the external wall at Nationwide, 6 Front Street, Chester-le-Street.
