South Ayrshire Council has lodged plans to refurbish a number of properties under its control in the Campbell Court area of Ayr. The local authority has earmarked four blocks of flats within the street where they plan to make improvements.
As a result, they have lodged proposals which will be considered by planners in due course. The agent in the proposals is Ayr-based Robert Potter & Partners.
Scope of the planned works
A description of the planned works states: “Proposed works comprise external refurbishment including roof coverings, re-rendering, windows, doors, rainwater goods, soffits, fascias, entrance canopies and associated repairs.” There will be no change to residential use or the number of dwellings.
The four residential blocks of flats at Campbell Court are “predominantly” owned and managed by South Ayrshire Council, with four privately owned flats.
Additional improvements and timeline
Also part of the proposed works are the removal of unused flues/chimneys, while fireplaces would be sealed. New roof finishes would be extended over, with entrance canopies to be replaced. Overgrown vegetation along the elevations will be removed and finishes “made good.” New tile vents, protective barriers and railings will be installed/replaced also.
The proposals are listed as ‘pending consideration’ on South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal and a decision is expected in November.
