Award-winning Coll Hotel, on one of Scotland's smallest inhabited islands, has been put up for sale for offers over £1.75 million as long-time owners Kevin and Julie Oliphant prepare to retire.
A family-run island institution
The hotel, located in the village of Arinagour on the Isle of Coll in the Inner Hebrides, has been run by the Oliphant family since the 1960s, with three generations helping to build its reputation. According to the Coll Association, the island is home to around 220 people, and The Coll Hotel serves as the island's only traditional public bar and hotel.
Over the years, it has become a popular destination for visitors exploring Scotland's west coast, while also acting as a social hub for the local community. The property holds a prime waterfront location overlooking the waters of Arinagour Bay.
Awards and facilities
The hotel has earned a reputation as one of Scotland's top island destinations thanks to its accommodation, food and warm hospitality. It has received VisitScotland Gold status, was named Best Hotel Experience Under 20 Rooms and Best Eatery Experience at the 2022 Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards, and was crowned Scottish Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year at the 2022 SLTN Awards for the third consecutive year.
It has also been named Scottish Island Hotel of the Year for two years running by Hotel Review Scotland and received the Flavour of Scotland Thistle Award. The property features 10 en-suite bedrooms, a guest lounge bar with seating for 15 people, a garden room, and a restaurant that can host around 60 people for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with windows overlooking Loch Eatharana.

Outside, the hotel offers landscaped gardens, outdoor seating, al fresco dining areas, private parking and its own helipad, adding to its appeal for visitors travelling to the remote island. The hotel is being sold on a freehold basis with an asking price of offers over £1.75 million.
