History and Rebuild
Completed in 2015, Massey Hall stands on the site of an earlier house built by Peter Rylands, Mayor of Warrington, in the late 19th century. His son, Sir William Rylands, who became High Sheriff of Cheshire, left the property to Lancashire County Council for educational purposes upon his death in 1948.
The school closed in 2006 and fell into disrepair before being bought by the current owners. In 2010, they commissioned ADAM Architecture to design and build a replacement home in the style of a traditional country house suitable for modern family living.
