Cheapest and most expensive Merseyside postcodes revealed

New data reveals the cheapest and most expensive postcode areas to buy a home in Merseyside, with L2 in Liverpool City Centre recording the lowest average sale price at £101,673 in the 12 months to the end of August.

Cheapest areas to buy

The L2 postcode area was the most affordable in the county, followed by L5 (Anfield) where homes sold for an average of £109,189. The third cheapest was L4 (Anfield) at £120,637, with CH41 (Birkenhead) at £122,223 and L28 (Stockbridge Village) at £124,696 completing the top five.

Other low-priced areas included L20 (Bootle) at £130,756, L6 (Anfield) at £140,197, and L1 (Liverpool City Centre) at £143,274. The full ranking from cheapest to most expensive lists all postcode areas, with L7 (Liverpool City Centre) at £149,064 and L13 (Clubmoor) at £152,767.

Most expensive areas

At the other end of the scale, CH60 (Gayton) in Wirral had the highest average sale price of any Merseyside postcode area with at least 20 sales over the last 12 months, at £480,531. CH48 (Caldy) followed at £444,050, with L38 (Ince Blundell) at £414,683.

CH47 (Hoylake) averaged £373,115 and L18 (Allerton) £372,658, while L37 (Formby) reached £367,295. The data also shows changes over the year, with L16 (Childwall) up 9.2%, L22 (Waterloo) up 8.9%, and CH62 (Bromborough) rising 13.0%.

Some areas saw declines, including L26 (Halewood) down 9.0%, L37 (Formby) down 5.1%, and L1 (Liverpool City Centre) down 15.9%. The figures come from an interactive map showing average property prices for every postcode area in the country.
