Andy Carroll and Billi Mucklow have finally sold their Essex mansion after cutting the price by £1million. The pair married in 2022 but their relationship ended in 2024, prompting them to list their 18th century mansion in November of that year.
Price reduced to secure sale
The property was originally listed for £8.5million before being reduced to £8million last year. A buyer had been lined up but the deal fell through. The mansion has now sold for £7.5million, a million less than the couple had hoped to achieve.
The mansion features four reception rooms and five bathrooms, along with a full-size football pitch, swimming pool, tennis court and boating lake in its grounds. The sale also included a two-bedroom cottage, four barns and a stable, with a gym onsite.
Divorce and new book revelations
“It’s no secret that Andy and Billi couldn’t wait to get rid of their old home. It was hanging over their heads and delaying their divorce. In the last few weeks things have really reached boiling point between the pair and Billi is really pushing to get everything finalised as quickly as possible,” a source told The Sun.
In his new book, Owning It, Andy spoke about his marriage, saying “it was on its last legs before we tied the knot, but we had three kids plus custody of my first two so it just felt like the right thing to do”. He claimed Billi agreed to move to France with him for football but “reneged on the deal”, leaving him feeling “depressed” when she stayed in England.
Their children Arlo, Wolf and Marvel Mae, along with his children from a previous relationship, Emilie Rose and Lucas, were meant to join him but stayed with Billi. He wrote: “Suddenly I had two years on my own”. Although he enjoyed playing for Amiens and Bordeaux, he said he was “too depressed and drinking too much” while trying to “mask the pain from being away from the kids”.
