A simple household ingredient can effectively remove mould from washing machines, according to cleaning enthusiasts. Fans of Mrs Hinch have shared a hack using white vinegar, claiming it works better than bleach for eliminating mould and musty odours.
In a post on the Facebook group Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It, one user explained that vinegar kills mould at the root, making it less likely to return. Unlike bleach, vinegar is less toxic and cheaper, making it a preferred choice for household cleaning.
To use, add white vinegar to the drum or detergent drawer, then run the machine on the hottest cycle with an empty load. This method also tackles limescale and buildup in the machine.
The same ingredient can be used for other cleaning tasks. A TikTok video by Connect Trade Cleaning suggests a mixture of one part vinegar, one part hot water, and three squirts of dishwashing liquid to clean shower glass, leaving it sparkling.
