Arsenal's summer transfer spending could reach around £200m as Mikel Arteta targets a double deal for England stars Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa. The Premier League champions have already completed one senior signing but are accelerating talks for several other players.
Arsenal Target Aston Villa Duo
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa want a British record £130m fee to sell Morgan Rogers this summer. The creative midfielder, who can also play as a winger or No.10, is also reportedly wanted by Chelsea, potentially sparking a bidding war with Arsenal. The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal are also interested in Villa defender Ezri Konsa, who can cover right-back and central defence, with the future of Ben White uncertain.
Arsenal believe they can sign Konsa for around £35m, though Villa are expected to demand more for the 28-year-old. If the lower figure is agreed, the combined cost of Rogers and Konsa would be £165m. Adding the permanent signing of Piero Hincapie, Arsenal's total spend this summer would hit approximately £200m.
Rogers Could Replace Trossard
Rogers is seen as a potential replacement for Leandro Trossard, who continues to be linked with a move to Besiktas. Gabriel Martinelli is also tipped for an Emirates exit. Both Rogers and Konsa are currently away with England at the World Cup but could return as Arsenal players.
Jeremy Monga Deal Explained
Meanwhile, the reason behind Arsenal's withdrawal from the race for Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga has emerged. Manchester City are now on the verge of signing the 16-year-old for around £10m. Arsenal had a £5m offer rejected but remained in talks until City, under new boss Enzo Maresca who worked with Monga at Leicester, entered the race with an inflated fee. Monga is tipped for a bright future despite Leicester's relegation to League One.
