Up to 450 new homes could be coming to Bebington, fresh plans have revealed. The homes would be built on around 24 hectares of Wirral farmland.
Documents have been submitted to Wirral Council on behalf of Persimmon Homes Limited ahead of the submission of a planning application. The site of the development would be at Vineyard Farm, off Poulton Road in Bebington.
Early stage plans
At this early stage, little in detail has been published regarding the design of the proposed development. The boundary of the proposal site spans a vast area from near the Holy Trinity Church, Spital in the north to near Poulton Hall in the south.
The submitted documents detail the potential effects the development could have on the local area, both during construction and once it is completed. It is said: "Construction traffic effects are expected to be temporary and short-term. A quantitative assessment will be undertaken for a realistic worst-case period of construction activity, having regard to the anticipated construction programme, workforce movements, HGV and LGV movements, construction access arrangements and routing."
Traffic and landscape impact
The assessment will consider the forecast change in total traffic and HGV movements on relevant highway links, together with the potential effects associated with concentrated construction movements. Appropriate construction traffic management measures will be identified where required.
Potential changes to people's views of the landscape is also addressed in the documents. It is said that due to the rise and falls of the nearby landscape, and "significant woodland coverage" from the south and east, "views into the site are largely limited to within the site itself and its immediate surroundings".
However, it is conceded that: "Close views into the site are available from nearby properties, including some along Venables Drive, Chorley Way and Poulton Road."
