M25 trucker fined for preparing lunch on motorway hard shoulder

A lorry driver has been fined after being spotted preparing his lunch on the fuel tank of his vehicle while parked on the hard shoulder of the M25.

The incident occurred near St Albans on Tuesday morning, when officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit found the driver chopping tomatoes and onions on the outside of his lorry.

According to a tweet from the unit, the driver had stopped for what he called a 'rest break' and decided to make a salad. Officers told him that the hard shoulder was 'not the best place to prepare dinner'.
