SPT Awards £26,000 to Glenboig Development Trust

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has approved a £26,000 award to Glenboig Development Trust as part of more than £1.34 million in grant funding to support community transport operators across the west of Scotland. The funding was confirmed at SPT's Operations Committee.

Funding Details and Beneficiaries

The funding will support 19 community transport organisations delivering essential journeys to healthcare appointments, shops, and social activities. For many passengers, these services provide a lifeline where no mainstream transport alternative exists. Glenboig Development Trust will receive up to £26,000 in core funding, supporting essential transport services for residents in and around the Glenboig area, helping older people, disabled residents, and those on lower incomes access the services and activities they need.

Official Comment

Councillor Stephen Dornan, SPT chair, said: "Glenboig Development Trust is a great example of a community-rooted organisation that understands exactly what its area needs and works hard to deliver it. Transport might not always make the headlines, but for the people Glenboig Development Trust serves, having a reliable, accessible way to get around can make all the difference to their quality of life. SPT is pleased to support their work."
