Man Utd to Launch £42.5m Bid for Manu Kone as Midfield Target Emerges
Man Utd Set £42.5m Kone Bid; Vitek Open to Exit

Manchester United are poised to launch a £42.5 million bid for Roma midfielder Manu Kone as Michael Carrick looks to bolster his squad. The French international, 25, has been identified as a key target following the collapse of negotiations for Ederson.

Kone Bid Imminent

According to reports from Italy, United could test Roma's resolve for Kone as early as today. The Serie A side are demanding more than £42.5 million for the player, who cost them just £15.3 million. Kone has made 82 appearances for Roma and was part of France's World Cup squad, featuring five times in North America, including starts in knockout wins over Paraguay and Morocco. He allegedly asked his representatives to delay transfer talks until after the tournament.

Santos Debut in Defeat

United's new £50 million signing Andrey Santos made his debut against Wrexham on Saturday, playing 45 minutes in a 1-0 loss. The result was not what Carrick hoped for, but Santos was involved in the action. He joins Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow as the club's three senior additions this summer.

Vitek Open to Exit

Goalkeeper Radek Vitek has expressed a desire to leave Old Trafford, either permanently or on loan. The Czech prospect impressed during a loan spell at Bristol City last season and wants to be a first-choice keeper this campaign. "I feel great and ready to go again somewhere to be, hopefully, number one, so we will see," Vitek said after a second-half appearance against Wrexham. "We will see what is going to happen. At the moment, I am still here, but we will see. I hope so. I hope there will be some interest. I think you will know when things are more concrete."
