Scale Liverpool and Fabric Studios, two creative and wedding venues in Liverpool, are closing at the end of July 2026, with the company entering liquidation.
Closure announcement
The businesses, located at The Tapestry in Kempston Street for the past eight years, informed brides who had booked weddings via email. The email stated: “There's no easy way to write this. After eight years, Scale and Fabric Studios is closing at the end of July 2026. This wasn't our choice.”
The team cited rising costs from the current government as the reason, saying: “We've fought to keep both spaces open for as long as we possibly could, we tried everything we could think of. But the rising costs coming from the current government have left us, and a lot of other independent businesses like ours, with nowhere left to go.”
Impact on customers
The email acknowledged the impact on couples who had booked the venue for their weddings: “Knowing our closure now affects that is genuinely awful to sit with. We're sorry. We know that word doesn't fix the stress or worry this puts on you, and if you're angry or upset, that's completely fair, we feel it too.”
The company will go into liquidation, meaning deposits and advance payments become claims in that process. However, the team personally guaranteed refunds: “We are personally guaranteeing you get your deposit back, in full. If the process falls short, we will cover the difference. No conditions attached.”
Director Sonny McCartney, listed on Companies House, could not be reached for comment. The team said they were unable to comment further.
