Aldi has announced a six-month price freeze on its baby formula, extending the £6.99 price tag on Mamia First Infant Milk through to the end of 2026. The move, confirmed on Tuesday June 23, aims to provide relief to millions of shoppers struggling with the cost of living.
Price Freeze Details
The budget supermarket will hold its Mamia First Infant Milk at £6.99 for the remainder of 2026, building on a previous pledge to maintain the price until summer 2026. The £6.99 price has been in place since June 2025. Aldi says the freeze could help parents save as much as £5 compared with the average price charged elsewhere.
Research by The Grocer revealed that the pre-promotional price of 157 baby formula products sold in major supermarkets climbed by an average of 9.4% in the first two months of 2026. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has estimated that families could save more than £300 a year by switching to cheaper formula products.
Support for Parents
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: "Household budgets remain under pressure, and some infant formula brands are increasing prices. That's why we're extending our Mamia First Infant Milk price freeze until the end of 2026. We know that every penny counts for parents, particularly during those early years, which is why we're committed to keeping this essential product accessible and affordable."
UK regulations ensure that all infant formula products meet babies' nutritional needs, regardless of brand or price. Aldi describes its Mamia Stage 1 First Infant Milk as "suitable from birth" and "suitable for combination and bottle-fed babies." It should not be refrigerated.
Additional Initiatives
This announcement is the latest move from Aldi to support parents. Earlier this year, the supermarket relaunched its Mamia New Parent Fund, giving away £100 Aldi vouchers every week for a year to help with everyday essentials after a new baby. Parents can apply by emailing mamiaparentfund@aldi.co.uk with a receipt showing their most recent Mamia nappy purchase. Full terms and conditions are available on Aldi's press centre website.
Aldi was also crowned Supermarket of the Year at the 2026 Mother and Baby Awards.
