15 Old DVDs Worth a Small Fortune: Collectors Pay Big Money
15 Old DVDs Worth a Small Fortune

Making some cash from an item you already own could be easier than you think. You might have a cupboard filled with old DVDs that are just sitting there and collecting dust. Experts have revealed a list of the DVDs you might own that could fetch you some cash, and there are some titles which could be worth a surprising amount of money.

DVDs Still Valuable Despite Streaming Rise

DVD sales have declined with the rise of streaming services, but among collectors, DVDs have remained valuable. According to the Liverpool Echo, some of your older discs could now sell for serious cash. Before the streaming boom, DVDs were a household staple. While many now view them as outdated, there is a growing appreciation for physical media, particularly for rare editions or titles not easily found online.

One major reason for this resurgence is that not every film or TV show is available via streaming. For fans who want reliable access to their favourites, owning a hard copy still has its appeal.

Top 15 Most Valuable DVDs

In a study, Bally Casino identified several DVDs that could be surprisingly valuable. They teamed up with collectables expert Tracy Martin to get insights into what makes certain editions stand out and how to make the most of selling them.

The Carry On Film Collection takes top spot for being worth the most amount of money. A complete box set of the films from the beloved British comedy series can fetch around £350 on average. Another high-value item is the Monty Python and the Holy Grail Limited Edition Castle Box set, which can sell for as much as £300.

Tracy says: “Collectable value can be due to rarity, different variants to the norm, oddities (misspellings on DVD cases or books), nostalgia - people buying back their memories, limited edition and basic supply and demand. There are so many reasons things are collectable. People don't always recognise they have things of value, which is why they turn to valuers like me or do their own research online. Always research to ensure you get the best price achievable for your collectable by looking to see what similar items have sold for in the past.”
