The National Lottery is offering a £377 million prize in this weekend's Powerball draw, the largest jackpot ever seen in a UK draw. The staggering sum is available after the UK became the first country outside the US and its territories to participate in Powerball earlier this month.
Draw Details and Ticket Information
The draw will take place in Miami, Florida, at 11pm local time on Saturday (4am BST Sunday). Players select five numbers from 1 to 69 and a Powerball number from 1 to 26. Tickets cost £4 and can be purchased in shops or online, similar to existing National Lottery games like EuroMillions and Lotto. Players also have the option of a lucky dip. The deadline to buy tickets for Saturday's draw is 11.55pm BST.
Prize Payment Structure
Unlike US winners, who can choose a lump sum (reduced by 50%), UK winners will receive the jackpot in annual payments over 30 years. National Lottery operator Allwyn said this ensures winners receive the largest possible jackpot. If multiple players match all numbers, the jackpot is divided equally.

Previous UK Record Winnings
Britain's largest lottery win to date was an anonymous EuroMillions ticket holder who won £195 million in July 2022. The second-largest winners are Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester, who won £184.3 million in May 2022 with a Lucky Dip ticket. Joe, a communications sales engineer, and Jess, a hairdressing salon owner, both went to work on the day they discovered their win. Mrs Thwaite said: "I didn’t think it was real to be honest. I still don’t think that it’s real."
Comparison with US Powerball
EuroMillions jackpots are capped at €250 million (£215 million), while Powerball has no upper limit. The largest US Powerball win was $2.04 billion (£1.5 billion) by Edwin Castro in California in November 2022. He was later sued by a man claiming Castro stole his ticket, but the case was dismissed. Castro's $3.8 million Malibu home was destroyed in the 2025 California wildfires, and he has since bought more fire-damaged land, promising to build family homes there.
