Winners and Prizes
Two thrilled neighbours are celebrating after banking an incredible £383,743 each on the Postcode Lottery. The pair were the sole big winners of the tax-free windfalls after G71 8RT landed the lottery’s weekly £1 million prize in Bothwell.
It meant the remainder of the Millionaire Street pot - more than £232,000 - was split between 432 other players in the Lanarkshire town’s wider G71 8 postcode sector.
Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said: “It was wonderful to be back in Scotland to present these bumper cheques. The winners were absolutely delighted with their prizes. And because of them, hundreds of other players in the town will be getting a little lift in their bank balances, too.”
The two main winners wished to remain anonymous. Every ticket in the sector prize was worth £455, with 364 players landing that amount. Fifty-eight people bagged £910 playing with two tickets and a further 10 cashed in with a three ticket total of £1,365.
Charity Donations
The Millionaire Street win also means that a string of local charities have benefited from surprise funding. One, the David Livingstone Centre, has been given £50,000 thanks to funds raised by Postcode Lottery players. Based in Blantyre, it is dedicated to telling the story of the life and work of the explorer and missionary.

Their support will have a lasting and positive impact on our community. At a time when community organisations are facing increasing financial pressures, support of this kind is invaluable. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly to support local people through a wide range of community programmes and activities. This generous funding will help ensure that this vital work not only continues but can be expanded in the months ahead, enabling us to reach even more individuals and families across the community. It will also allow us to continue delivering opportunities that improve wellbeing, develop skills, tackle social isolation, and help people build brighter futures.”
Other charities receiving funding include Liber8 who were given £75,000; Blantyre Soccer Academy who received £30,000; Bothwell Futures who received £25,000 and The Fair Play Foundation who claimed £20,000.
