Tesco has brought back its Freebie Thursdays promotion, giving five million shoppers a coupon for a free bag of crisps on Thursday, July 30. The offer is available exclusively to Clubcard members, who can claim a 150g pack of Tesco Finest crisps by scanning a digital coupon at checkout.
How the promotion works
Selected customers have been chosen based on their previous shopping habits. To check if they have a coupon, shoppers are advised to open their Tesco app on Thursday. If the coupon appears, they must redeem it in store by midnight on Wednesday, August 5. The coupon is valid for one of 16 different flavours, including sea salted, prawn cocktail, and salt and vinegar.
Return of Freebie Thursdays
The original Freebie Thursdays ran as a six-week promotion from June 11 to July 22, offering items such as Tesco stonebaked pizzas and Diet Coke. Due to its popularity, Tesco decided to bring it back with crisps as the first giveaway. Shama Wilson, Group Membership & Loyalty Director at Tesco, said: “We know how much our Clubcard members loved Freebie Thursdays, so we have decided to bring it back, giving away millions more coupons over the coming weeks. If you find a coupon in your Tesco app then the product is entirely free – you just need to claim it at the checkout in your local Tesco store.”
