Rory McIlroy's caddie Harry Diamond has made an estimated $750,000 to $850,000 (£557,240 to £631,540) in 2026 alone, according to figures based on standard caddie pay. This windfall comes despite McIlroy playing a reduced PGA Tour schedule this season.
Masters victory boosts earnings
Diamond's most lucrative payout came at the Masters, where McIlroy successfully defended his title at Augusta National. McIlroy collected a record $4.5 million (£3.3 million) winner's cheque, with Diamond receiving a 10 per cent cut of $450,000 (£334,000). That single payout placed Diamond ahead of numerous PGA Tour professionals for the year.
McIlroy added a further $840,000 (£631,000) from the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open, including $637,050 (£473,300) for a T7 showing in the PGA Championship, where Aaron Rai claimed victory.
Season highlights and earnings
McIlroy's 2026 campaign also featured a T2 placing at the Genesis Invitational, a T12 at the Memorial and a T7 at the Genesis Scottish Open. However, he won't be in the field for the upcoming FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Even his T46 at The Players, T32 at the U.S. Open, and T40 at The Open contributed to the overall figures. A level-par showing at The Players netted $72,000 (£53,000), whilst a T40 at The Open yielded $69,000 (£51,000) for his smallest payday of the campaign.
McIlroy's performance at Aronimink delivered Diamond another healthy amount in bonus payments. McIlroy himself has accumulated $8.5 million (£6.3 million) in official prize money this season and is in with a chance of reaching $10 million again after doing so in 2025.
Comparison with other pros
As a result, a number of tour pros' earnings for 2026 put them behind Diamond, let alone McIlroy. Haotong Li sits at $741,536, with Keita Nakajima at $740,571, Stefano Mazzoli at $720,000, and Rico Hoey at $718,607.
Diamond isn't leading the way for caddie income, though. World No.1 Scottie Scheffler has accumulated $16.9 million (£12.5 million) in prize money this campaign, with bagman Ted Scott estimated to have raked in close to $1.4 million (£1 million) as a result.
The Northern Irishman's background outside golf is reportedly in the hospitality industry. His family has links to pubs, hotels and eateries around Bangor and Belfast and maintained associations with the Marine Hotel and Dukes Hotel. Today, though, it's Diamond's work with McIlroy which has earned him the big bucks. Despite a reduced schedule, the Masters winner is not anticipated to encounter any PGA penalties for falling short of the minimum tournament requirement.
