Luke Littler's £1million prize for winning the PDC World Darts Championship will be slashed by nearly half due to UK tax laws. The 18-year-old defeated Gian van Veen 7-1 at Alexandra Palace on Saturday to become the first back-to-back world champion since Gary Anderson.
His winnings will be taxed at the additional rate of 45 per cent, leaving him with a tax bill of up to £450,000. Including National Insurance contributions, the total deduction amounts to approximately £470,000.
However, Littler has a swift opportunity to replenish his finances at the Bahrain Darts Masters, starting on January 15. He won the event in 2024, securing £30,000, and will return as a 10-time PDC major winner.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Littler outlined his schedule: 'We fly out to Bahrain next Sunday, so we'll have five, six days off and then we're back on the road. I want to go and try and win that title in Bahrain once again.'
The teenager also plans to compete in the inaugural Saudi Arabia Darts Masters on January 19 in Riyadh, followed by a short break in Dubai. Prize money for World Series events was £30,000 last year, though 2026 amounts are unconfirmed.
