Inter Milan have informed Newcastle United that Petar Sucic is not available for transfer this summer. The 22-year-old Croatian midfielder has been on Newcastle's radar as they look to strengthen their midfield following Sandro Tonali's £100 million move to Tottenham Hotspur and ongoing speculation over Bruno Guimaraes' future.
Transfer approach rejected
According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter are adamant that Sucic will remain at the San Siro for the upcoming season. The Italian club would only consider exceptional bids to facilitate a move, underlining his importance to the team.
Sucic played a key role for Inter in Serie A last season, featuring in 34 matches and recording two goals and two assists. He also impressed for Croatia during the World Cup campaign.
Mixed window for Newcastle
Newcastle have had a mixed transfer window so far. While they have secured signings such as Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, winger Bazoumana Traore, and goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, they missed out on midfielder Johan Manzambi, who opted to join Aston Villa. Traore is seen as a direct replacement for Anthony Gordon, who moved to Barcelona in a £69 million deal earlier this summer.
Other players linked with a move to St James' Park include Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Larsson, Porto winger Oskar Pietuszewski, Sevilla's Ruben Vargas, and Atalanta centre-half Giorgio Scalvini.
