Halifax has clarified its branch rules after a customer asked about the restrictions that apply. The customer asked whether they could withdraw cash above the ATM limit in branch.
Halifax responded: "Yes, you can withdraw more than your ATM limit in branch. For withdrawals over £300, you'll need your Chip and PIN card, and the branch may ask for ID. Photo ID is required for withdrawals over £5,000."
Branch withdrawal rules
Guidance on the Halifax website explains that customers can withdraw cash at any Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland branch. For larger withdrawals, availability may be limited, and ID may be required. The bank states: "For larger withdrawals, availability may be limited, and you may be asked to give identification and supporting documentation."
The bank adds: "As part of our efforts to protect you from fraud and scams, we may ask questions about your withdrawal. This could include requesting information or documentation to confirm the purpose of the withdrawal and discussing different, secure ways to make your payment."
Brand migration
Halifax customers will soon be moved over to the Lloyds Bank brand. Individuals will be invited to switch to the Lloyds app and Online Banking gradually over the coming months. The change will not affect account details, payments, or other banking services.
