Ferrari and Mercedes are the only two Formula One teams to feature in Forbes' 2025 list of the top 50 most valuable sports teams, while McLaren and Red Bull have been omitted despite recent success. Ferrari, boosted by the arrival of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers at a valuation of $6.5 billion (£4.9bn), ranking 26th. Mercedes, valued at $6bn (£4.5bn), tied with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Chargers for 34th place, returning to the list after missing out in 2024.
McLaren, despite winning the last two Constructors' Championship titles, failed to make the top 50, as did Red Bull and Aston Martin. The list is dominated by American sports franchises, with the Dallas Cowboys topping it at $13bn (£9.7bn), followed by the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Rams. The New York Yankees were the most valuable MLB team, while Real Madrid led football clubs, with Manchester United and Liverpool also representing the Premier League.
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella expressed confidence in the team's technical strength ahead of the 2026 regulation changes. 'The technical team at McLaren is particularly strong... this is one of the strongest technical departments I could have been part of in my career,' he said. Stella believes the team's working standards and approach will carry into the future, making them optimistic for 2026.
