Benefit claimants are being urged to check their payment dates for August 2026, as the August Bank Holiday falls on Monday, August 31. Those expecting to receive benefits on that date will instead be paid on Friday, August 28.
Benefits are usually paid straight into your bank, building society or credit union account. If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday you’ll usually be paid on the working day before.
Benefits affected by the August Bank Holiday
- Attendance Allowance - usually every 4 weeks
- Carer’s Allowance - weekly in advance or every 4 weeks
- Child Benefit - usually every 4 weeks (or weekly for some) - paid by HMRC
- Disability Living Allowance - usually every 4 weeks
- Pension Credit - usually every 4 weeks
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP) - usually every 4 weeks
- State Pension - usually every 4 weeks
- Universal Credit - monthly on the same date as your claim started
State Pension payment day
The date you receive your State Pension depends on the last two digits of your National Insurance number. If your normal payment day is a bank holiday, you may be paid earlier. The schedule is:
- 00–19: Monday
- 20–39: Tuesday
- 40–59: Wednesday
- 60–79: Thursday
- 80–99: Friday
If your pension is due on Monday, August 31 (a Bank Holiday), you will receive it on Friday, August 28 instead.
