These years include 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2018, and 2021. The 2016 edition is considered the rarest and most valuable, with values ranging from £30 to £80 depending on the year.
In a TikTok video, the collector explained that the 2018 Shield 50p, which did not enter circulation, can fetch £50-£60. He advised viewers to check the date on any Shield coins they encounter. The Royal Shield design forms part of a larger image when combined with other UK coins from 1p to £1.
While circulated Royal Shield 50p coins typically hold only face value, Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) versions from the Royal Mint can command between £10 and £30.
