Barclays has launched a groundbreaking switch benefit worth £600, calling it a ‘first-of-its-kind’ offer for select customers. The bank is targeting high earners with a Premier Account switch that includes luxury experiences such as Michelin-star dining, overnight hotel stays, or annual entertainment passes. The promotion runs from June 9 to August 27, 2026, but stringent requirements apply.
How to Qualify for the Barclays £600 Offer
To open a Premier Current Account, applicants must have an annual income of £75,000 or more. According to YouGov data from 2024, only 4% of Brits earn above £70,000, making this a highly exclusive offer. Additionally, customers need to hold at least £100,000 in savings or investments with Barclays, or a combination of both. After opening the account via the Barclays app using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), they must transfer two or more active direct debits and deposit at least £4,000 within 30 days.
The Perks
Successful applicants can choose from several luxury options. Food lovers can enjoy premium dining at venues like Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay or the Savoy Grill, with a curated menu, wine pairings, welcome drinks, and a £50 Uber credit. For a night away, hotel breaks at Dakota Hotels or De Vere include an overnight stay for two with champagne, a three-course meal, and spa access. Concert enthusiasts can get premium tickets to stadium concerts at Wembley, while sports fans can attend England cricket matches at Headingley. Families may prefer annual passes to Merlin Entertainments attractions, plus Cineworld and Picturehouse tickets with drinks and popcorn.
A More Attainable Offer
For those who don’t meet the Premier Account criteria, Barclays also offers a £200 cash reward for switching to a standard Barclays Current Account. To qualify, customers must open an account, complete a full switch with two or more active direct debits, and deposit £2,000 within 30 days. The £200 is paid within 28 working days. Gillean Dooney, head of current accounts and payments at Barclays UK, stated: ‘We’re introducing two different switcher offers this summer — a £200 cash reward or a unique, experience-led offer. It’s about offering meaningful value, with options to suit every customer.’
