Barclays customers may be eligible for a £200 bonus payment, but there are critical deadlines to observe. The bank will contact eligible customers directly regarding these payments.
How to Qualify for the £200 Bonus
By switching your current account to a Barclays Bank Account, you could receive a £200 payment. You must arrange a full switch via the Barclays app, which includes closing your existing account. Your switch must include at least two direct debits and be processed through the Current Account Switch Service. If you are interested in this offer, you need to act quickly. You must begin your switch by Thursday, May 28.
What If You Miss the Deadline?
If you miss the May 28 deadline, there may still be an opportunity to secure the offer. Guidance on the Barclays website states: "If you have any issues switching on the final day of the campaign, you'll still be eligible if you start the switch the next working day (and you meet all the other criteria)."
30-Day Rule and Deposit Requirement
Another important deadline to remember is that your switch must be finalised within 30 days of opening your new account. Additionally, you must deposit a minimum of £2,000 into the account within the same 30-day period.
When Will You Receive the Bonus?
Once all the steps have been completed, Barclays will transfer the £200 into your new account within 45 working days of you fulfilling the requirements. The Barclays guidance states: "You'll get a text once you've reached the eligibility criteria and verification checks have been completed - there's no need to contact us."
Who Is Not Eligible?
Customers who have previously accepted a switching incentive from Barclays will not qualify for the offer. This includes any switch offers where you moved your current account over to the bank.
To be eligible, you must be aged 18 or over and a UK resident. The offer is exclusively available when switching to a Barclays Bank Account in a sole name. The offer is not available for switching to a Barclays Basic Bank Account. The switch must be made from a non-Barclays account, meaning transferring from an existing Barclays account will not be accepted.
