Newcastle United are set to have 3,407 fans in attendance for their pre-season friendly against Bristol City at Ashton Gate, a 295-mile round trip from the North East.
New signings may wait for debuts
Summer signings Bazoumana Touré and Aladji Bamba are still building fitness after moves from Hoffenheim and Monaco respectively. They have trained with their new teammates but are unlikely to feature against Bristol City.
The pair missed the 1-1 draw with Gateshead, where debuts were given to Sean Steur and Ewen Jaouen. Touré and Bamba may make their bows after next week's La Manga training camp, with the clash against Valencia the next possible opportunity.
World Cup stars returning
Eddie Howe may have Malick Thiaw, Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa available for the Bristol City match. All three were involved in the World Cup in the US and Mexico.
Woltemade played a cameo role for Germany against Paraguay before missing a penalty in Boston as Germany were eliminated. Thiaw played just 40 minutes for Germany, while Wissa scored three goals for DR Congo before they lost to England after Harry Kane's late winner in Atlanta.
Despite a summer Howe described as challenging, Newcastle's allocation for Ashton Gate sold out, with fans travelling in strong numbers for the midweek friendly.
