Octopus Energy is offering customers a £50 credit on their energy bills for every friend they refer to the supplier. The UK's largest electricity provider, serving 6.8 million customers, says the credit is automatically added to both accounts once the new customer's first Direct Debit is paid.
Customers can find their unique referral link by logging into their account and checking the home screen of their dashboard. They then share this link with family or friends, who must sign up directly through Octopus's website using the link to qualify for the offer.
There is no limit on the number of people a customer can refer. For example, referring five friends earns £250 in credit, while ten friends yield £500. One customer referred over 20 people, receiving £1,000, which Octopus paid via bank transfer due to the large amount.
The credit typically appears within four weeks of the friend's switch. If it does not show, it may be because the friend is still leaving their old supplier or setting up their Direct Debit. Customers can check their balance history in their account dashboard to see the +£50 credit.
Octopus warns against spamming third-party sites, using paid ads, or spamming its X (Twitter) page. Breaches may result in revoked referral credits or removal of the referral link, as outlined in the terms and conditions.
