Last Chance: 4 Days Left to Claim £150 Warm Home Discount

Households in England, Wales, and Scotland have just days left to apply for the £150 Warm Home Discount, with the deadline falling on February 28. The discount, which provides £150 off electricity bills, is automatically applied for most eligible customers, but some in Scotland need to claim manually.

Eligibility is based on claiming certain benefits on the qualifying date of August 24. In England and Wales, the payment is automatic for those receiving qualifying benefits. In Scotland, only Pension Credit Guarantee Credit recipients receive it automatically; others must contact their energy supplier to apply. The scheme does not operate in Northern Ireland.

Those who believe they are eligible but have not received a letter or had the discount applied should contact the Warm Home Discount scheme by calling 0800 030 9322 or writing to PO Box 970, Preston, PR2 0FX. With the deadline approaching, calling is recommended to ensure timely processing.

This comes as energy bills are predicted to fall this spring. Cornwall Insight forecasts the Ofgem price cap will drop from £1,758 to £1,641 per year for a typical dual-fuel household. Ofgem will announce the new cap on February 25, covering April 1 to June 30.

The price cap limits unit rates and standing charges for those on standard variable tariffs, but does not cap total bills, which depend on usage. Customers are advised to check their eligibility and act quickly to secure the £150 discount.
