Rangers to Offload Five Fringe Players Under McInnes
Rangers to Offload Five Fringe Players Under McInnes

Rangers are set to offload at least five players this summer who are not part of new manager Derek McInnes' plans. The Ibrox club will listen to offers for Danilo, Jose Cifuentes, Nedim Bajrami, Clinton Nsiala, and Ross McCausland, all of whom are deemed surplus to requirements.

Danilo's Future Uncertain Despite Contract

Brazilian striker Danilo, signed for around £5 million from Feyenoord in 2023, still has two years left on his Rangers contract. However, injuries and a loss of form have plagued his time at Ibrox. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, but the club did not take up their option to buy the 27-year-old.

Cifuentes and Bajrami Set to Leave

Ecuador international Jose Cifuentes has been a flop since his move from MLS side LAFC three years ago. He has already had three loan spells at Cruzeiro, Aris, and Toronto FC after failing to establish himself in Glasgow. Cifuentes has not returned to pre-season training with Rangers and will be moved on this summer.

Nedim Bajrami, signed from Italian side Sassuolo in 2024 for £3 million, has never nailed down a first-team spot. The Albanian international was a bit-part player under Barry Ferguson, Russell Martin, and Danny Rohl. Rangers will now try to recoup some of the fee they paid for him.

Nsiala and McCausland Also Available

Clinton Nsiala, signed as a promising youngster from AC Milan two years ago, will be allowed to leave after a loan stint in Belgium with Westerlo last season. Ross McCausland, a product of the Rangers youth academy, may also be shipped out. Despite a promising start under former boss Philippe Clement, the Northern Ireland international was sent to Aris Limassol last season, where he performed well. He is back training with McInnes but is set to depart.

Lyall Cameron Given Chance to Impress

One fringe player, Lyall Cameron, who was on loan at Aberdeen last year, will be given a chance to prove his worth at Ibrox ahead of the new campaign. McInnes is looking to build a new-look squad, and Cameron could earn a spot if he impresses in pre-season.
