Coatbridge and Bellshill has seen 75 fewer people in the claimant count compared with last year, a fall of four per cent, according to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Improvements in Cumbernauld and Kirkintilloch
In Cumbernauld and Kirkintilloch, the number of people aged 50 and over in the claimant count has also reduced by five, a two per cent reduction.
Jobcentres across North Lanarkshire continue to work closely with employers, partners and local organisations to help more people move into work, build confidence and access the training and support they need.
DWP Statement
Shaun Cowie, DWP external relations leader for North Lanarkshire, said: "We want to work with you to fill your vacancies. Our Jobcentres are open for recruitment events tailored to individual employers, and we regularly host jobs fairs that bring multiple businesses together under one roof. We can also organise work academies and boot camps to help prepare candidates for your roles."

Cowie added: "With over 520 jobs in North Lanarkshire across retail, warehouse, social care and security, there are opportunities available now for people looking to take their next step into work. Our teams are focused on matching local people with local vacancies, while helping employers access a wider pool of candidates. That includes supporting people to update their CVs, prepare for interviews, build confidence and consider training routes into sectors where employers are actively recruiting."
Call for Organisations
Cowie also said: "We also want to hear from organisations who can support people closer to work, whether through employability programmes, skills support, volunteering opportunities, mentoring or community-based services. By working together, we can help more people across North Lanarkshire overcome barriers and take advantage of the opportunities available."
UK Government Reaction
A UK Government spokesperson added: "While it's welcome that unemployment has fallen slightly, the reality is too many young people are still locked out of work. For too long, governments have paid for failure rather than invested in people's success. We’re determined to turn that around by creating real opportunities for young people, reforming education so everyone has a clear path to a good job and providing the support people need to stay and get on in work."
