Islay Hotel Night Manager Job with Live-In Option

A four-star hotel on Islay, Scotland's renowned 'whisky island', has announced a new job opening for a night manager. The permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary of £29,500 per year, the option of live-in accommodation, and a range of additional benefits.

Role Details and Benefits

The successful applicant will work 40 hours a week, leading the hotel overnight to ensure it operates safely and smoothly. They will act as the main point of contact for guests, providing an 'exceptional guest experience', handling questions, and resolving issues with care.

For those who do not require accommodation, a non-live-in bonus is provided, along with free parking at the hotel. Other perks include free use of a 'championship golf course' and discounts at all of the chain's other hotels.

Duties and Requirements

Responsibilities include conducting regular security and hotel checks, monitoring CCTV, maintaining high reception standards, supporting the night cleaning team, and providing room service when required. The night manager will also complete the night audit, prepare for the following day's arrivals, and assist the management team with administrative tasks. They must respond to incidents appropriately, escalating when necessary, and provide a comprehensive handover.

Applicants should have previous experience in a similar role and be confident running night audits and overseeing the hotel. Experience with a hotel property management system, front of house experience, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office are desirable. Candidates should be friendly, professional, and enjoy helping people, with a diplomatic personality and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Island Life and Additional Skills

Other desirable attributes include the ability to show initiative, make decisions independently, a passion for outstanding guest service, and a positive attitude. An interest in the outdoors, as well as First Aid and Fire Warden training, are also ideal.

The job listing describes the island: "Wild coastlines, big skies and a close-knit island community set the rhythm of daily life on the island. The roll of waves, breeze-blown dune grasses, and call of seabirds make up a rich island soundtrack. We're looking for a Night Duty Manager to join our welcoming team."
