Andoni Iraola has stressed the need for Liverpool to sign a new winger ahead of the new Premier League season following the departure of Mohamed Salah.
The Reds' talisman confirmed back in March that he would leave Anfield a year early and is seemingly poised to complete a move to the Turkish outfit, Besiktas.
While Liverpool have added Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz, a winger by trade, they are yet to commit to a deal for a senior replacement to Salah, who plundered 257 goals across his nine-year stay on Merseyside.
Transfer targets and ongoing search
Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain has been heavily linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, while the club made inroads into a deal for the impressive Yan Diomande earlier in the summer, only for PSG to emerge as the attacker's preferred destination.
Iraola has confirmed Liverpool's search for another winger is ongoing, pointing out that wide attack is one area that definitely needs strengthening.
"I think it is difficult to say a number [on how many incomings]. When the market is open, you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad," Iraola said from Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States.
"There are obvious situations where we need to sign players. Winger for example, we definitely need to sign a winger, but there are other situations where we will have to analyze what the market gives you, what is the cost, how we also see the players we have."
"We have some tricky positions where we have injured players that we trust, but it is still not the ideal situation, so it will depend on a lot of things."
Potential developments
While Diomande's preference is a move to PSG, progress on a deal to take the Ivory Coast star to Paris has been slow.
If Diomande does swap RB Leipzig for PSG, the move could open the door for Barcola to leave. He is admired by both the Reds and Arsenal, who also want to level up their left attacking options.
The Premier League champions have been forced back into the market after failing to sign their priority transfer target, Morgan Rogers, who completed a £117million move to Chelsea on Tuesday.
