The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) provides up to £194.60 per week to millions of people who require additional financial support with living costs as a result of long-term health conditions or disabilities.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit designed to assist those living with a chronic physical or mental health condition or disability who experience difficulties carrying out certain daily tasks or moving around due to their condition. PIP consists of two elements: daily living, for those who need help with day-to-day activities, and mobility, which is intended for those who require support getting around.
PIP rates and increases
Each of these elements carries a standard and enhanced rate, determined by the level of need. In April of this year, PIP rates rose by 3.8%, in line with inflation.
Following that increase, the daily living component now stands at £76.70 per week at the standard rate, or £114.60 at the enhanced rate. The mobility component has risen to £30.30 at the standard rate and £80 at the enhanced rate, bringing the maximum weekly payment to £194.60.
