Dog Walker Lands Modeling Contract After 4-Stone Breakup Weight Loss
Dog Walker Lands Modeling Contract After Breakup Weight Loss

A dog walker who used her breakup as motivation for a dramatic 'revenge body glow-up' has secured a modeling contract after shedding four stone. Lauren Latimer, 25, says the end of her 16-month relationship in February spurred her to 'come back better' and lose weight.

Through a calorie deficit and walking over 20,000 steps daily, she slimmed from a dress size 12 to a size 4, dropping from 12 stone to 7 stone 6 pounds in just six months. At 5ft 7in, her new petite frame has opened doors in modeling, a far cry from her former camera-shy days.

Breakup as Motivation

Self-employed Lauren says the most noticeable change is in her face, leading to online accusations of jaw and lip filler, though she insists she is all natural. Now preparing to walk a catwalk in front of 300 people, she calls the breakup the 'best thing' that ever happened to her. While her inbox is flooded with messages from men, she remains focused on herself and her career.

Lauren, from Hartlepool, County Durham, said: 'The breakup 100% spurred me on to lose weight and be healthier. I was neglecting myself unfortunately when I was with him - we would go out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I wasn't mindful of the things I was eating and I was going to bed and not looking after my skincare. Before you know it, you do just put weight on very quickly.'

She added: 'I would definitely say that every girl has in her head 'I'm going to come back bigger and better' after a break-up. If you make yourself look better, it is a bit of revenge. Not in a nasty way, but definitely in the way of 'you're not going to recognise me again'. I went through a little bit of a heartbreak glow-up.'

New Modeling Career

Following her transformation, Lauren gained confidence and a modeling career. She shared a TikTok video collaborating with a brand, which led to a modeling agency reaching out. She signed a contract, has done a shoot for a clothing brand, and has a jewelry shoot and a catwalk event upcoming.

Lauren said: 'I shared a video on TikTok collaborating with a brand and a modelling agency reached out to me. They were really interested in me. I went into the studios and they said they think I have a massive amount of potential. I signed a contract with them and I've done a shoot for a clothing brand and have one for a jewellery company coming up. I've also got a potential catwalk in front of 300 people in the next couple of weeks. It all seems to be happening at the minute. I feel so much more empowered and so much more confident [now that I've lost weight].'

She reflected on her past insecurities: 'There were times where I wouldn't want to get a photo - I would say to people 'don't get me in', I hated my side profile. I hated how I looked. There were a lot of things I didn't like about myself but you can't get me out of the camera now. Hopefully one day I'm on a billboard.'

Filler Accusations

Lauren often receives comments accusing her of having filler in her face. She explains that weight loss altered her features naturally. 'For me when I was at my heaviest, the weight seemed to go to my face more. It was very, very puffy. There are a lot of people that say 'you've definitely had chin filler, jaw filler, you've definitely had your nose done'. If you were to see me in real life, you'd see that I've had nothing done. I haven't had any filler in my face, I'm completely natural. When I lose weight it comes off my nose, my cheeks, my chin. I have really high-definition cheekbones and it does just change your face. If people want to comment that [I've had filler] then that's fine - it's a compliment to me because it means it looks like I've had something done when I haven't.'

Focus on Herself

Now, Lauren believes the breakup was the best thing for her. She is inundated with messages from guys on social media but chooses not to reply, focusing on her career and personal growth. 'I haven't been dating, I do get messages from guys on social media but the truth is, I don't answer anyone. I'm so committed to myself, my career, focusing on me. I don't have the time for entertaining men. I'm just investing into myself at the minute, I don't think I could keep up with a relationship.'

Advice for Others

Lauren urges other women starting their weight loss journey to 'stay consistent' and not rush. 'Don't rush it - the truth is consistency is key. I always say you might have motivation one day but the next day you might not have it. Dedication is completely different - if you have dedication and you're willing to stick to something. If you're willing to stick to your nutrition and stick to going to the gym, even when you're not seeing a difference. If you keep pushing yourself and if you keep going for it, you will see changes eventually but it doesn't happen overnight.'
