Texans Star Nico Collins Vows to Retire in Houston

Houston Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins has made his intentions clear regarding his future with the franchise. As a pivotal contract decision looms, the 2021 third-round draft pick from Michigan has expressed a strong desire to remain in Houston for the entirety of his career.

Collins is currently entering the second season of a three-year extension signed after his rookie deal. His contract includes an opt-out clause that could be triggered before the 2027 season, prompting the Texans to seek clarity on his long-term plans soon. Despite the uncertainty, Collins has openly stated his commitment to the team.

"I love the Texans," Collins told KPRC 2 in Houston. "I got drafted here. It's somewhere I want to end. I love the city, the people, the community. There's a lot of great positive vibes coming out of the city of Houston. So, it's definitely a place I would like to retire."

Trade rumors had previously linked Collins to a potential move away from the organization, but those were swiftly dismissed by team executives. General Manager Nick Caserio reportedly told other teams to "shove it" when inquiries were made about acquiring the receiver.

Collins has consistently performed as one of the NFL's elite wide receivers since debuting in 2021. He has ranked among the top 10 in receiving yards in two of the last three seasons. Last year, he tied for ninth with 1,117 yards and hauled in six touchdowns, further solidifying his value to the Texans' offense.
