Stormzy, the 32-year-old rapper whose real name is Michael Ebenazer Owuo Junior, has been fined £533 after being caught using his mobile phone while driving his £400,000 Ferrari. The incident occurred on November 10 last year in Kingston upon Thames, when a Metropolitan Police constable spotted him typing an address into his phone's map application while stationary in traffic.
The rapper admitted the offence at the roadside and later pleaded guilty at Croydon Magistrates' Court to not having proper control of his vehicle. Magistrate Lynn Keane imposed a fine of £533, along with £120 in costs and a £213 victim surcharge, and added three penalty points to his licence. The total court bill of £866 must be settled within a month.
This is not Stormzy's first mobile phone offence. In March 2024, he was caught using a hand-held device while driving his Rolls Royce Wraith in west Kensington. For that offence, he received a nine-month driving ban and a £2,010 fine at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court in January 2025, with the judge describing his actions as 'dangerous' and 'irresponsible'.
The rapper's latest conviction was dealt with via the Single Justice Procedure on May 7, in a private hearing he did not attend. The incident occurred a month after he had run out of petrol in the same Ferrari on Putney High Street, where he staged an impromptu meet-and-greet with fans while waiting for assistance.
