Millions of state pensioners across the UK are set to receive a much-needed financial boost this year, with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirming an additional payment of up to £300.
The extra cash comes as part of the government's ongoing support for pensioners struggling with the rising cost of living. The payment will be automatically added to eligible recipients' state pension, requiring no application process.
Who Qualifies for the Pension Boost?
The additional payment will be available to:
- Those receiving the basic State Pension
- Claimants on the new State Pension
- Pensioners who qualify for Pension Credit
The exact amount each recipient gets will depend on their individual circumstances, with some receiving the full £300 while others may get a smaller sum.
When Will Payments Arrive?
The DWP has confirmed the payments will be made in November 2024, just in time to help with winter heating costs. This follows similar payments made in previous years to help pensioners cope with inflation and energy price hikes.
A DWP spokesperson said: "We remain committed to supporting pensioners through these challenging economic times. This payment is part of our wider package of support for those on fixed incomes."
What Other Help Is Available?
Pensioners may also be eligible for:
- Winter Fuel Payment
- Cold Weather Payments
- Free TV licences for those over 75 on Pension Credit
- Discounted council tax
Experts are urging all pensioners to check their eligibility for these additional benefits, as millions of pounds go unclaimed each year.
