Oprah Winfrey's podcast is heading to Amazon as part of a multiyear agreement between her production company, Harpo Entertainment, and Amazon-owned Wondery. The deal, announced on Monday, grants Wondery exclusive distribution and advertising rights to “The Oprah Podcast.”
Expansion of Episodes and Reach
Beginning this summer, the podcast will increase its output to two new episodes per week. Wondery will handle both audio and video distribution across Amazon’s ecosystem, including Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV Channels, and Audible. The show will also remain available on YouTube and other platforms.
Winfrey launched “The Oprah Podcast” in December 2024. In a statement, she said hosting the show “allows me to continue the work I feel called to do – opening the door for conversations that matter.” She added that expanding its reach “is an opportunity I embrace.”
Library Rights and Previous Deals
In addition to the podcast, Amazon has acquired rights to the library of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which aired from 1986 to 2011, as well as Winfrey’s book club and “Favorite Things” franchises. Financial terms were not disclosed.
This move follows a similar 2024 deal between Wondery and the Kelce brothers for their podcast “New Heights.” The agreement underscores Amazon’s strategy of attracting top-tier talent to its audio and video platforms.
