Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has confirmed the club will replicate last summer's transfer approach, targeting a mix of Premier League-proven players and overseas talent. The Red Devils spent over £200 million on four signings in the 2025/26 window, including Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, and Senne Lammens, which helped secure a third-place Premier League finish and Champions League qualification.
Speaking to the club's YouTube channel, Berrada emphasised the importance of preparation and flexibility. 'You have to have a clear plan,' he said. 'We want a mix of experience and youth, players who have performed in the Premier League and those doing well abroad. We will always act within our terms and for the long term.'
United have identified at least five targets for the upcoming window. Atalanta midfielder Ederson is set to become the first signing after a £38 million agreement was reached. Interest has also been shown in Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni, West Ham's Mateus Fernandes, Brighton's Carlos Baleba, and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, though Manchester City are leading the race for the latter.
A striker is a priority after Rasmus Hojlund's permanent departure, while a left-back is also under consideration, with Newcastle's Lewis Hall emerging as a potential option. Berrada noted that Jason Wilcox and his recruitment team are well-prepared to execute the plan.
