Carlisle hosts a seven-race Flat meeting on Friday, and Newsboy's Nap, Auspicious, is fancied to win the 3.40 handicap. The Nigel Tinker-trained son of Awtaad proved ahead of his opening mark when winning on his handicap debut at Newcastle last September. After three below-par runs in 2026, he bounced back at Redcar last time, winning at 16-1 over six furlongs. Despite a 3lb rise to 52 and a tricky draw in stall 10, his lightly raced profile (eight starts, five on turf) suggests further progress, and the Tinkler yard's 25% strike-rate is a plus.
Connie's Rose the NB at Chepstow
Connie's Rose, a seven-time winner at Chepstow, is the next best in the 5.10 handicap. The Grace Harris-trained mare is a pacemaker who should prove hard to catch.
