A devoted fan of chocolate digestives has conducted an extensive taste test of seven McVitie's chocolate digestive variants, and the results have left her astonished. Faye, an Instagram user, set out to rank the different flavours to help other biscuit enthusiasts make informed choices when browsing supermarket shelves.
The Ultimate Chocolate Digestive Challenge
Faye began her video by declaring, "Let's rank all the chocolate digestive flavours." In the caption, she expressed her unwavering love for chocolate digestives, calling them the best biscuit in the world. She admitted to being surprised by some of the results and wondered if conducting the test without a cup of tea had affected her judgment.
Milk Chocolate Digestives
Starting with the classic milk chocolate variant, Faye confessed her bias, as these are her all-time favourite biscuits. After taking a bite, she exclaimed, "Oh, my God. That is just the perfect biscuit. You genuinely cannot go wrong." She praised the salty maltiness of the digestive biscuit paired with the smooth sweet chocolate topping, awarding it an easy ten out of ten.
Pink Raspberry & Cream
Next, Faye tried the Pink Raspberry & Cream digestives, which she had never seen before. She was pleasantly surprised, stating, "I did not think that I would like this, but it's actually so good." Comparing the flavour to Party Rings, she found the raspberry and cream digestive even better due to the digestive biscuit base. She gave it a solid seven out of ten.
Dark Chocolate Digestives
For the dark chocolate variant, Faye noted that the chocolate itself had a really nice taste. However, she maintained that the classic milk chocolate would always win. She rated the dark chocolate digestive an eight out of ten.
Digestive Gold
Faye had never heard of Digestive Gold before, which are described as having a golden caramel flavour. After tasting, she was unimpressed, claiming it "didn't taste of anything." She speculated that it might be a subtle white chocolate but detected no caramel flavour, calling it very plain and giving it a two out of ten.
Seriously Chocolatey
The Seriously Chocolatey variant featured a triple chocolate experience, with a chocolate-flavoured biscuit containing chocolate chips and a classic chocolate coating. Faye found it had more of a cookie taste, reminiscent of Maryland chocolate chip cookies, rather than a traditional digestive. She rated it seven out of ten.
White Chocolate Digestives
White chocolate digestives reminded Faye of the Golden ones but sweeter and more sugary due to the white chocolate. She concluded, "It's not for me," and gave it a four out of ten.
Milk Chocolate and Caramel
Finally, Faye tried the milk chocolate and caramel digestives, which feature a layer of caramel between the biscuit and chocolate coating. After a "wow" upon first bite, she described it as an improvement on the Golden ones, with a nice thin layer of caramel. However, she noted it wasn't the best quality but appreciated its sticky, sweet, and caramel-y addition to the classic milk chocolate digestive. She scored it seven out of ten.
Final Rankings
In her overall ranking, Faye placed Digestive Gold in last place, followed by white chocolate. The caramel, seriously chocolatey, and pink digestives tied for third place. Dark chocolate came in second, while the classic milk chocolate digestive claimed the top spot as the unbeatable favourite.
