Maxi-Cosi has issued a recall for all FamilyFix Slide Pro car seat bases after a safety indicator malfunction was found to pose a risk of injuries to children. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has advised users to stop using the product immediately.
Recall Details
The recall affects bases manufactured in China between 6 September 2025 and 24 March 2026. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005, according to the OPSS.
Safety Risk
The indicator, which shows whether the seat is correctly fitted, may display 'green' even when the car seat is not fully attached to the base. This could cause the seat to move or detach, potentially injuring the occupant.
Company Statement
Maxi-Cosi stated: "Your child's safety drives every decision we make at Maxi-Cosi, and in keeping with our deep dedication to you and your family, we want to make you aware of a voluntary recall affecting your product." The company identified the issue during a user test as part of continuous improvement efforts.
What to Do
Users are urged to check their product by entering the product model reference (10 digits) and manufacturing date on the Maxi-Cosi website. The manufacturing date can be found on the white label on the underside of the base.
Expert Comment
Sue Davies, Which? head of consumer protection policy, said: "It is incredibly concerning that Maxi-Cosi is recalling this car seat base due to a risk that it could cause the seat to move or detach during use. Anyone with a Maxi-Cosi car seat can use the brand's online tool to check if their car seat is affected, and if so, they should stop using it immediately." She added that Maxi-Cosi and its suppliers must investigate how this happened and ensure safeguards are in place.
