The race is intensifying to secure the signature of Jarrod Bowen, who could be making his exit from West Ham United this summer, even if the club manages to stave off relegation from the Premier League.
Liverpool Lead the Chase
Liverpool have long-standing admiration for the 29-year-old England international and are considered strong contenders as they search for wingers and a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Merseyside club are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.
Newcastle and Everton Also in the Hunt
Newcastle United are also interested as they look to reinforce their forward line, with manager Eddie Howe preparing to sell Anthony Gordon. Everton boss David Moyes, who was in his second spell as West Ham manager when they signed Bowen from Hull City for £22 million in 2020, is another admirer.
West Ham are bracing for a summer of upheaval, with uncertainty in the boardroom following Karren Brady's departure. Brady stepped down in April after 16 years as co-chair of the club.
Financial Implications
Relegation after 14 years in the Premier League would have huge financial repercussions and trigger contractual clauses. However, there is a growing feeling that Bowen might be granted clearance to leave even if they avoid the drop. Those in pursuit believe he could be prised away for less than £60 million.
Bowen's Legacy at West Ham
Bowen has served the club brilliantly for six-and-a-half years. He has been top scorer for four of the last five seasons, captain for the last two, and scored the winning goal in the Europa Conference League final under Moyes in 2023, after which he signed a seven-year contract. Despite his success, Bowen, who married Dani Dyer, daughter of celebrity West Ham fan Danny Dyer, has never shown any public desire to leave.
Other Potential Departures
Crysensio Summerville, who scored seven goals in ten games during a mid-season purple patch for the Hammers, is another player sure to attract offers at the end of the season. Tottenham Hotspur considered a move for Summerville in January before deciding against it.
